We were able to attend a dinner honoring our brother-in-law, George. He received a scholarship in behalf of a fallen marine. The scholarship was for disabled vets. George had to have an early retirement from the Air Force because of an injury that he had while he was in Iraq. The dinner was at the Fire House in Old Town Sacramento. It was a very touching night. I am so grateful for the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect our freedoms. We live in an amazing country.

Reading your post made me remember how proud I felt to be an officer's wife. When Rich would go out to sea, I would think about what he was doing, and I would think about I too was doing something to help by sacrificing my husband. Part of me still misses that, not having Rich be gone, but feeling like I was playing a major role in helping the country! I guess I will always have the memories!
